Job Title : APS6 Project Manager
Location: Greenway, ACT (2900)
Contract Length: 6 Months with possibiltiy of extension
Must have: Baseline Clearance
Hourly Pay: $65.20 - $73.30 + super
Background
Client is leading the Commonwealth's efforts to deliver four client safety action plans that aim to end family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia. These will be informed by extensive research and evidence gathered from multiple sources, and extensive consultation and engagement across groups within the ecosystem. This procurement will address the need for a dedicated function to work with leadership and team leads to strengthen visibility, planning and alignment across interconnected workstreams contributing to client outcomes.
Aims:
- Enable alignment between project activities, evidence inputs and key milestones
- Support clear, accurate and timely reporting to senior leadership and the Minister
- Strengthen governance, planning and risk management across the program
- Build internal project management capability, strengthening the Group's ability to manage complex programs beyond the life of the contract
Responsibilities of an APS 6 Project manager:- Provide project management support including scheduling, tracking, reporting and documentation.
- Support senior project managers with coordination and administrative project management tasks.
- Support agile ceremonies and reporting rhythms where required.
- Escalate data discrepancies or tracking issues to the EL1 promptly.
- Support in providing high quality deliverables like strategy documents and PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership and teams.
- Apply business analysis techniques where appropriate, including mapping workstream interdependencies, analysing program data and insights.
- Assist in the development and standardisation of reporting templates and program artefacts across branches.
- Support in actively building internal project management capability throughout the engagement.
Key Requirements- Expert Delivery: Proven experience managing complex, multi-stream projects within government or social policy environments, often under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Strategic Reporting: Ability to provide senior leaders and Ministers with accurate, high-level reports and "plans on a page" that connect daily work to big-picture outcomes.
- Framework Mastery: Deep knowledge of Commonwealth governance, agile methodologies, and project management routines (tracking milestones and delivery).
- Capability Building: A focus on "leaving the place better than you found it" by coaching staff, improving team maturity, and challenging old ways of working to drive efficiency.
Soft Skills & Background- Resilience: High adaptability in fast-paced, high-governance settings.
- Communication: Ability to build fast, productive relationships with senior executives.
- Background: Ideally from an APS or Consulting background with a Baseline Security Clearance.
Success Metrics (KPIs)- Quality: Are the reports and plans accurate and on time?
- Growth: Is the internal team actually getting better at project management because of your coaching?
- Agility: How well do you respond to direction and changing needs?
